IANA, the Intermodal Association of North America, reported continued strength in domestic intermodal shipments in December. While down from November, shipments in domestic boxes are well above the same period in 2010 and just off the highpoint for 2011. Shipments moving in international containers rose slightly in December and remain very close to 2010 volumes. There was no significant fall peak shipping season but the strength of domestic intermodal is encouraging.
