Today is the first day of National Truck Driver Appreciation Week, and it’s the perfect time to honor all professional truck drivers across the nation for their hard work and dedication. Approximately 9.2 billion tons of freight are moved on trucks annually, which requires nearly 3 million heavy-duty Class 8 trucks and 3.5 million drivers. It also takes over 37 billion gallons of diesel fuel to move all of that freight – that’s some serious trucking!
To celebrate the commitment these great workers bring to their important and demanding jobs, we wanted to take a look at some of the impressive stats they rack up over the span of a year. We thank you, American Truckers, for your hard work, dedication and long hours on the roads!
